Driving Directions

LEAD AS A COACH Workshop - January 26, 2012. Most leaders describe their role as one of a “coach”. While it is true that a lot of leaders approach their employees with an idea of coaching, many lack the real coaching skills and the understanding of principles of effective coaching. Many leaders confuse coaching with mentoring, teaching, advising and directing. Coaching, however, consists of its own paradigms and specific skills. When coaching is properly applied, a leader’s approach transforms radically.
The workshop is for you if …

…You want to be perceived as a leader with a coaching approach.
…You are frustrated with your employees or team members not following your suggestions.
…You want your performance review conversations be more productive.
…You are afraid you are not as an effective manager as you would like to be.
…You want to learn practical and effective tools of the coaching trade.
…You want to leverage your coaching skills in your personal relationships, too!

You will learn:
·      Responding to basic human needs as a coaching leader
·      What coaching is not
·      How you design a contract for a coaching relationship
·      The two dimensions of coaching
·      The mindset of a coach
·      The critical coaching skills for a leader

Kristiina will share her secrets of leadership coaching in this is a highly interactive workshop.
10.00 am – 2.00pm, includes a boxed lunch.
Register by end of the December 2011 at $450
Registering in January $499
RSVP to kristiina@bigagendacoaching.com  or 425.922.8244
Venue to be announced later (Bellevue or Seattle).

Every first Thursday of the month Kristiina hosts a Happy Hour (5pm) at the Bellevue Grille of Sheraton Hotel in Bellevue. Email Kristiina http://www.bigagendacoaching.com/contactus.htm if you are interested in attending the next one! Here is a 4 minute clip from our Happy Hour in June 2011.

The invitation is open - please join us if you think you would enjoy a casual chat about what brings joy to life. I will steal some 10-15 minutes of the "happy time" and present some food for thought about how we perceive happiness, how happiness plays into leadership and what makes us happy.

Although there is no cover charge or fee to attend (you can order anything you like from the happy hour menu) I’d like to get an idea how many are planning to attend, and therefore, would appreciate RSVPs asap. The Grille is not very busy, and we will share the space with other bar patrons at one end of the lounge. There is ample free parking.

I hope you join in the conversation and help me launch a new tradition - joyfully! :-)

The Next50 - September 2012 - Commerce and the Innovation Economy month

The Seattle Center: Conference and Exhibition
Saturday, September 8, 2012 (8am-10pm)

Women in Innovation Summit - Women of The Next 50 (WINS 50)

Women’s wisdom fueling the future - From ideas to innovations in leadership, social change and technology

Our objective is to showcase women’s creativity and leadership in order to develop practical solutions for a better economy.

Women in Innovation Summit is a conference that challenges women to think big and beyond conventional solutions. Women across generations participate in the reinvention of our economic future in the areas of technology, leadership and social change.

Women of the Next Fifty is a platform in which women are encouraged to actively participate in innovation in a variety of areas and be connected to the appropriate resources and support so that these innovations can be developed and applied for the benefit of the humanity.

Key questions
Where are women innovators? Who are women innovators? What do women innovate? How do women innovate? Why would women innovate? What do women’s innovations do? Where do women get stuck on their path from an idea to invention to innovation? Why? What needs to happen for women to participate actively more in the process of innovation? What are the benefits for women to be recognized as innovators?

How?
The Women in Innovation Summit is a series of thought-provoking talks by women thought leaders in the areas of leadership, technology and social change. Through facilitated problem solving processes women across generations learn from each other and collaboratively bring their ideas to light. We focus on the emerging influence and intelligence of women for the benefit of our future. This event is an opportunity to bring together women of different generations, color and ethnic backgrounds to converse, connect and commit to contributions that benefit us all locally and globally.

There is also an opportunity to showcase women’s best thinking, services and products at an exhibition.

In January 2012 we will begin local monthly in-person meetups about the topic of the conference and begin developing ideas.

On December 1st in Bellevue we launch this process with a kick off event in which we inform the leaders of the women’s organizations in the greater Seattle area and other active and influential women about this collaborative opportunity and invite them to contribute and participate.

Ideal Outcome
Commitment to working and leading wiser. A women-led movement to more sustainable economy and happier workplaces. Women’s view is being seen and heard.
